It’s safe to say the Tee-shirt phenomenon is sister to the sneaker phenomenon and proliferation.  The once nascent trend is full blown, which is nothing new just seemingly continuous and noteworthy.  At the intersection of style, sport, fashion, entertainment and technology, Soldier uses cultural insight and personality to create messages for the cut-and-sew creation known as the Tee-shirt.  A potent form of expression–– often at a low cost.  With more than 3 billion tees sold a year worldwide it has become a no joke business, culture and message billboard.

In the 1970′s,  Elle Magazine announced the Tee-Shirt would become “a basic item of clothing that will never go out of fashion, because it’s already beyond fashion”.  Nice call, indeed. We say the same thing about our Director of Operations, Dan Vogelzang. In other words cool-proof!

The Soldier studio has created  hundreds and hundreds of tee designs and supporting packaging for our clients over the years. From intese hand crafted creations within the studio to commissioning highly talented emerging artists outside our walls to collaborate with on graphics, our designs have benefited from significant press, excitement and nods from street culture, which keeps us psyched on it.  Our design concepts travel the entire cult-to-classic spectrum.  Application of art has ranged from simple to advanced or sustainable by nature, served up with organic blanks and soy-based inks. Details such as label design, trim packages and embellishments are getting both more sophisticated and subdued, but never the less there are those who seek a certain level of complexity and depth.  Our Product Design Director Andy Lubets continues to push the technical delivery and innovation of the Tee, while growing a young and immersive product design squad.  We expect Tee designs to stay in the mix as a relevant expression to the consumer experience.
